To understanding vision impairment and how they experience entertainment, we conducted digital ethnography. Further, we interviewed visually impaired people from the local department of the Danish Association of the Blind, intending to acquire more personal knowledge about what kind of entertainment they enjoy. We quickly found out the importance of music in their everyday lives and that when it comes to creating or exploring own compositions, they need help from sighted people. From here, we started an ideation process to help them create and explore music by themselves. The challenging part was designing a system with easily differentiable components and devices as well as including the important features. The ideation made us aware of using textures, shape-changing interfaces, and features to be included from which we iteratively arrived upon the final design.
